Cheap Apple Mac Clone Psystar Open Mac Computer Review and Price

Florida based Psystar announced an Apple Mac Clone known as the Open Mac Computer for a relative cheap price!Rejoice you lot of Apple Mac Fanatics who does not have enough moolah to get the real thing. Here comes the alternative! What exactly does the Psystar Open Mac Computer has? It’s specification is as followed according to Psystar
- Processor : The base processor of the Open Computer is faster than any processor available for the Mac Mini.
- Memory : The Open Computer comes with 2 GB of memory by default–twice as much as the Mac Mini.
- Storage : The Open Computer brings, by default, a 250GB 7200RPM SATA hard drive which means better drive performance and three times as much space as the base Mac Mini and the drive on the Open Computer can be upgraded to a 400GB model for file sharing and media editors.
- Video Card : The Open Computer can be configured with an optional nVidia GeForce 8600 video card for improved performance in image and movie editing and drastically improved performance in gaming. The Mac Mini does not have this capability.
- SuperDrive : The Open Computer comes equipped by default with a Dual Layer DVD+/-R burner that is equal to the Apple SuperDrive without you having to pay extra for it like you would when buying a Mac Mini
- Options : You can buy it in black without having to pay more. You can buy it with Firewire. You can buy it with a GeForce 8600, if you like. Psystar gives you options that Apple does not.
The OpenMac would come with Leopard pre-installed. There are of course EULA issues with that.
But on a personal note, this might come under the microscope of the Apple Giant and we could really see some dirty politics undergoing in the near future.
Until then, the Apple Mac Clone Psystar Open Mac Computer is available at Psystar website and it just cost a super cheap price at US$$399.99

Mmm,
One might be a little less cynical if it wasn’t for the stuff that Psystar DON’T mention in their specs. At the listed price does it have sound? gigabyte Ethernet? (Or any ethernet at all, for that matter? I’ve noticed a few people like to get on the net these days!
Wireless? Bluetooth? iLife? A remote control? A Warranty? (You know, a few of the little things that come with even the most basic real Macs!). By the time you get the “Open Computer ” up to scratch with even the basics that MacMini starts to look like a pretty good deal!

well rod,it was quite expected of it for the open mac computer as the name itself shows that it is more or less like a barebone computer and you have to do your own pimping to boost it up.but other than that,i think it is quite justible for the price it is charging!
